Short version: As new investors in residential real estate who are currently remote to the Twin Cities, we conducted a careful search for a real estate agent and were fortunate to find and work with Lisa Atkinson. Her data-driven diligence, reliability, knowledge, experience, care, and patience, were exactly what we needed to help us crystalize and execute on our goal even in this crazy housing market. Also, Lisa does the most thorough and detailed agent tours and walkthroughs that we have seen, which is always helpful and especially critical with us being remote. Long Version: We are new investors in the residential real estate market of the Twin Cities metro area. Since we are currently remote, we took special care in selecting a real estate agent and a property manager. We were fortunate to meet Lisa Atkinson of Investors Realty MN (also operating as Total Real Estate Success). Even when we were just interviewing potential agents, Lisa took extra time to make sure she understand our goals, and to explain the pros and cons of investing in different types of residential property and different parts of the metro area unfamiliar to us. Before we engaged her as our agent, she even took us on a virtual tour without obligation or pressure, just because we were interested in the property. As part of this process, we also talked with two of Lisa's client references, and they both spoke positively about working with her and TRES on different parts of buying, selling, and managing properties. Once we engaged Lisa as our agent, she helped us solidify our target, and we started looking at properties. At that time, we learned that Lisa's knowledge and experience as a real estate agent, property manager, and licensed contractor, along with her sincere desire to help her clients succeed, really made her stand out. Lisa provided data and analyses to help us identify potential properties, and ran her tours timely and effectively. Even though our tours were virtual, Lisa's thoroughness enabled us to review the properties almost as well as if we were there in person. When we got to the offer stage, Lisa made sure we understood the terms of the purchase agreement, ran models and market comparisons to help us price, and was outstanding on communications and always kept us informed. Where needed, Lisa also provided contacts from her network for loan agents, inspectors, contractors, and the like. We also appreciated that Lisa never pressured us or did a sales pitch - she just gave us her honest advice. Thus, less than 5 months after we started not knowing what or where to invest in the Twin Cities, we have executed on our goal by closing on our first property. Thanks, Lisa and TRES! We were so happy with our experience that we have also hired Lisa and TRES to be our property manager. This part is pretty new yet to us, but the transition has been smooth and all looks great thus far. Unsurprisingly, we are finding that Lisa the property manager is the same diligent, responsible, and careful person as Lisa the real estate agent. We have met Maureen and Pat at TRES, but haven't worked much with them. We do appreciate how they collaborate with each other on the back-end, and how they cover each other, including when Lisa was out one week during an offer process for us.
We rented from Lisa / total real estate success for 2 years. We had minimal repairs during that time and when issues arose they were addressed in a timely manner. When the time came to purchase a home, Lisa went the extra mile to help us find exactly what we were looking for as well as putting up with our ignorance as first time home buyers. We looked at many homes 40+ minutes away from the metro and Lisa was always willing to make the drive and help us look. She was patient with us during the actual purchase as well. Dealing with our frustration during underwriting. We wound up with what is by far the best home we looked at. She even found us a sublease for our rental making the transition seamless. Without Lisa/ Total Real Estate Success I'm not sure if we would have secured our dream home. I have nothing but good experiences and strongly recommend them as a rental or realtor. Glad to see I'm not the only one with a horrible experience. Lisa is the worst property manager ever, yes she's just in it for the money as others stated, cares nothing about tenants, I have repairs pending for 6 months that she keeps puting off. Now my electric is out and she's not fixing that. Shes the worst to work with, not recommended. *Don't rent at 8801 W. 35th street St. Louis Park.*
These women were terrible to work with. I have been in the mortgage industry for ten years and these are the most unprofessional and rude real estate representatives that I have ever encountered. I waited several months to write this review after my interaction(s) with these women, but even well after my frustration has subsided I still feel like it is important to let anyone know who is thinking about doing business with Lisa and/or Maureen how distasteful and inappropriate I think they are. I was working for a lender on the buyer side for a transaction in which they were representing the sellers. They seemed to have no interest in working together or have any understanding on how the mortgage process works, but instead made their own unreasonable demands and ultimately just slowed down the process of getting the property sale transaction closed. I thought they were unintelligent, unprofessional, and ill-mannered. I would never consider hiring them and I can only hope to never cross paths with them again, in any capacity.
I have been working with the team at Total Real Estate Success for over two years now. I have found every single individual I have come in contact with to be very upfront, honest, efficient and fair. I have dealt with them as landlords, real estate agents and property managers. I give this business 5 stars in every one of those areas!
